What You Will Learn

In our Carnatic vocal lessons, you will master:

  • Pitch Control & Sruti Alignment: Perfect your ability to match pitch with sruti, a foundational skill in Carnatic music.
  • Basic to Advanced Techniques: Learn alankaras (basic exercises), varnams (structured compositions), kritis (devotional songs), and manodharma (improvisation techniques).
  • Raga and Tala Mastery: Develop a deep understanding of different ragas (melodic scales) and talas (rhythmic cycles), essential components of Carnatic music.
  • Repertoire Building: Expand your repertoire by learning compositions from classical composers such as Thyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshitar, and Shyama Shastri.
  • Performance Skills: Gain the confidence and stage presence needed for live performances, including concerts and temple events.
Instructor’s Background

Our Carnatic vocal lessons are led by Dr. Divya CR, MBBS, MD(Psychiatry).

  • A seasoned musician with over 20 years of experience in Carnatic music.
  • Specializes in both vocal and violin.
  • Has performed in numerous concerts, earning acclaim for her deep understanding of Carnatic traditions and her expressive performances.
  • In addition to her musical expertise, she holds an MBBS and an MD in Psychiatry, bringing a unique blend of discipline and passion to her teaching.
Class Format and Schedule

Our Carnatic vocal lessons are structured to suit each student’s level and learning style.

Classes cover theory, vocal exercises, and practice of compositions.

  • Classes are held on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) to accommodate students’ availability.
  • Morning sessions: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
  • Evening sessions: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
  • Flexible one-on-one sessions are available for students requiring personalized attention.
